North America is the largest region in the world when it comes to heliskiing. Heliskiing was invented in British Columbia (see our article on the  » history of heliskiing » in the Interview and Information section). This Heliski region comprises of 3 countries in our classification. The US, Canada and … Alaska!
Alaska is obviously part of the US but when it comes to heliskiing, every skier who has been there will agree that it is a place on its own. A very special experience that you will never forget.

Canada can be called the heliskiing capital of the world and rightly so !
With 44 heliski operators, or one third of the worldwide total, it is a clear leader in the industry. In Canada, you can expect huge snowfalls of light powder and a diverse terrain ranging from trees to glaciers . Canada can cater to all skier type, from the intermediate skier with no heliski experience to the pros.

In the United States, you will also find quite a few great options but mostly resort based heliski operators. It can be a great option for a family trip with young kids and also in case of down days.

Last but not least, Alaska !
With its stable maritime snowpack, Alaska is the ultimate steep heliskiing destination with incredible terrain characterised by couloirs and spines.
